sometimes obedience is boring
Honestly speaking, I have to face to some obedience things sometimes, but I really would like not to accept some somewhere or in some situations. For instance, when I studied in a university in China, all of our classmates usually were asked for going to do something that we all really did't want to do, such as a boring professor's speech, a show for some government officials, some comment for the campus journal, and so on. I just don't want to solve these in the campus, I don't care how much and frequently it exists or happens in the society. At the same time, if some certain people follow the obedience thing, I will also feel very uncomfortable. For example, some teachers sometimes give your credit according to the school's certain ratio, they divide all the classmates into several levels exactly even alter your real score to match the list they want to make. So, I really don't want to accept these things.

Lin,
ReplyDeleteI am curious about your statement "I just don't want to solve these on campus, I don't care how much and frequently it exists or happens in the society." What do you mean here, specifically? What things? And what don't you care about? Where is a better place than the university to address social problems?
I think that my misuse of some words makes you confusing. Actually I mean that sometimes I do not want to take part into some activities which I consider boring or I am not interested in, but I have to do them to obey someone's order.
ReplyDeleteI also want to clarify that I do not mean that I am not care about obedience, while it seems that I do not have other choices sometimes and I do not have ability to change those situations.
I think that Universities are good places to address social problems. A lot of social problems actually are solved or revoluted by young educated students.
Lin,
ReplyDeleteI think I see what you're getting at.You're right, sometimes it feels like we have no choice, but, finally, don't we always have one? What do you do when you know a teacher has given you an unfair grade because of his or her "ratio" for the class? That sounds stressful.
I agree with u. Maybe there are some problems on the Chinese education system so that lots of Chinese students are addited to be an obedient people, which is bad for their study and future. If we can learn to say "no" and just follow our feeling, i think we will live more happily!!!
